What we   re building

We   re building a product-led protocol for Frames, a new type of mini-app that live inside of social feeds, messaging and other surfaces. So far we   ve built Frames.js to help devs make frames, and Open Frames to bring frames support to more ecosystems. We   re currently working on building and launching a mobile app, Frames.fun, in order to dogfood our protocol and iterate faster. Our goal is to build an internet scale protocol for Frames, enabling delightful, frictionless and safe transactions across apps, in order to contribute to a more open and composable web.

Why The internet today feels like it   s stuck in an equilibrium not great for users.

To create a successful new product, it's often necessary to not only build something great but also recreate the network effects of established companies. This has resulted in many products we use leveraging their network effects and market position to prioritize advertisers over users, thus diminishing user experience. Web3 and cryptographic networks present an opportunity to alter the basic incentive structures of the internet. They separate products from data network effects through protocols, much like early internet protocols such as SMTP did for email. While building an app on Farcaster, a decentralized social network, we explored the ways in which apps on decentralized social networks can provide a better user experience to traditional social platforms, in order for them to compete and win. We found that one of the best ways in which decentralized social networks can differentiate is through mini-apps that enable new composable legos, that also enable apps to monetize more effectively via fees on microtransactions instead of ads. We   re working on the Open Frames Protocol because we think it   s crucial to decentralized networks gaining traction on the internet, enabling a more open and user-aligned internet.

Current Team

  • 3 full time senior engineers and 2 part time contractors (1 design, 1 engineering)
  • Located in a similar EU timezone (Germany, Slovakia, South Africa)

Requirements

  • We hire from EU/African timezones only (no exceptions!)

Reasons to join

  • High autonomy + pragmatism
  • Remote work (with standard hours)
  • Competitive compensation + equity + perks
  • Work on interesting problems at the forefront of mini-apps and internet protocols
  • Most of our work is open source
  • We have raised from top tier VCs including a16z crypto and have a couple of years of runway

Reasons not to join

  • We   re an early stage startup - work is less well defined, moves faster, we work harder and we   re more prone to changing direction. Some people enjoy and thrive in this kind of environment, and others don   t.
  • If you   re not that interested in working on these problems. We   re a group of people that often hack on weekends and build side projects related to Frames and Decentralized social networks, out of curiosity, experimentation and learning. We want you to share our interest.

Senior React native lead

You   ll be working on a variety of engineering and product problems related to Frames, including primarily our app Frames.fun, as well as potentially APIs and the protocol we   re working on. You   ll have high levels of autonomy in contributing to technical and product decisions that will impact the users of our app, as well as developers of Frames.

Requirements

  • EU timezone (GMT-1 to GMT+3)
  • 5+ years writing production software
  • Experience writing Typescript
  • Experience with react-native

Nice to have
